Futuristic Home: A Bold Concept for Future Living

Creating an Immersive and Experiential Environment

Inspired by the Sci-Fi movie "Passengers," designer Jackie Lai has crafted a futuristic home that pushes the boundaries of residential design. With a monochromatic color palette, sleek angular lines, and sophisticated fittings, this home offers a glimpse into the future of living.

Beyond the norms of mainstream residential interiors, this concept integrates both sense and sensibility, blending form and function seamlessly. The use of recessed light belts illuminates the space, guiding you to the bedroom and merging the whole aspect of smart home technology. The result is an immersive and experiential environment where space, interior, furniture, media, and technology converge.

The walls of this futuristic home are made from a mix of solid surfacing and customized gypsum board materials, creating a seamless and sleek appearance. The living cushion, made of high-elastic polyurethane foam with white leather upholstery, offers both comfort and style. The matte surface on the ceiling and doors is made of aluminum, adding a touch of elegance to the space.

One of the standout features of this design is the suspended beds in the bedrooms. Defying the laws of physics, these beds create a floating effect, adding an element of intrigue and visual interest. Lighting plays a crucial role in all spaces, with careful attention given to create the perfect ambiance.

With a size of 11000mm x 11000mm x 3000mm and covering an area of 120 square meters, this futuristic home offers a compact yet functional living space. The design team, led by Jackie Lai, includes Miki Shi as the project manager, Foo Cuiyun as the renderer, and Dr. Agnes Xue as the consultant.

The project, which started in January 2018, is set to be completed by August 2018 in Marina Bay, Singapore. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to ensure that every detail of this futuristic home met the highest standards of quality and innovation.

Despite the challenges of the "no wood" criteria set by the owner, the design team successfully incorporated solid surfacing, metal, and glass materials to create a reflective and spacious environment. Tones of grey were added to provide contrast and break away from a clinical look.

The futuristic home designed by Jackie Lai has garnered recognition and acclaim, winning the Bronze A' Design Award in 2018 for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award celebrates designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to the improvement of quality of life.

With its bold concept, sleek design, and integration of smart home technology, this futuristic home offers a glimpse into the future of living. It is a testament to the power of design to create immersive and experiential environments that push the boundaries of what is possible.
